Chuck Blixt

Founder – Pioneer – Innovator – Leader

Charles “Chuck” Blixt was a pioneer, innovator, and leader in the home inspection industry, both locally and nationally for decades. With an extensive business background, education and experience in the construction and real estate industry, Chuck was uniquely qualified for the inspection business when he was licensed in 1975 as one of the first Truth-In-Sale-Of-Housing (TISH) Evaluators in the City of Minneapolis. As the program evolved, he recognized a need for continuing education for himself and other Evaluators. So, in 1978 he co-founded The Minnesota Society of Home Inspectors (MSHI) to provide continuing education for Evaluators, serving as its first president.

In 1981 Chuck and his business partner, Roger Hankey, created Inspecta-Homes, the areas first professional home inspection company. Recognizing the need for education beyond the guidelines provided by the City of Minneapolis’s TISH program they became the first inspectors in this area to become members of nationally recognized American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). ASHI provided Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics for home inspectors on a national basis. Chuck (ASHI #280) became an early member (#30) of the Great Lakes chapter of ASHI serving as its Vice-President and editor of its monthly newsletter.

In 1984 he and his business partner developed the concept of offering uniform residential home inspections for the Relocation Industry through a national network of ASHI Certified inspectors. In 1987, while serving as the Chair of the ASHI insurance committee he helped establish the National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI) as a Risk Retention Group designed to help home inspectors acquire adequate and affordable errors and omission’s insurance on a national basis, serving as its first president. During this time, he also served on the ASHI National Board of Directors and the Council of Representatives. As the local industry grew and expanded, he and other Inspectors recognized the need for a local ASHI chapter and in 1992 he co-founded the Heartland Chapter of ASHI serving the 5-state area, again serving as its first president.
